Cinema 4D CE6 for free!!!

How lovely! Here, in the Czech republic, we’ll get a free copy of Cinema 4D CE 6. With a czech manual and some tutorials (total of 750 pages). Only limitation is resolution of the output: 600x400.
For less then 100 $/Eur we can buy an upgrade for 16000x16000 res but for trying this famous piece of software is the first option OK. And there are maybe some export/import possibilities too. 8)
For czech (and slovak) speaking people - check Cinema 4D pages.
And for the others, try to search your local C4D pages, maybe there is a similar action near you.

nice news!
sadly I don’t understand anything on czech pages and online translators don’t cover that language.
can you help us to understand how is the offer?
can we have it sent in other countries?

Well it was ment mainly for czech users here. Because the application works only in czech language :-? So that’s it.

Here in germany it was on several magazine cds, with the same limitations and the offer to upgrade. I think you can download it from the maxxon website.
It doesn’t run with wine :frowning:

D.

y cinema 4d when youve got blender?

Apparently Cinema 4D CE Release 6 will be on the cover disk for Issue 44 of 3D World magazine.
I picked up the CD when I purchased Issue 43 at Barnes and Noble last week (week of 10/13/03).

Cinema 4D CE V.6303 is “a special fully functional version of Maxon’s popular 3D application, featuring the complete feature set from Cinema 4D XL6, but limited in resolution 600 X 400 pixels.”

The CD has the full Manual and Full Tutorial Manual. More than 1000 + pages of free documentation. (I’m having them printed on a Heidelberg color printer for free!) I also found a quick start guide.

There is also anupgrade to CE+ for those with CE.

Here is a review of Cinema 4D XL6 from Inside Computer Graphics.

Another review from PCPlus in the UK.

I’ve been wanting to try out a full verison of a commerical app so when I heard this I was happy. However, I haven’t used it just yet. I’m wating for the manual to be printed so I can get started.

I’m also going to take the time to go back through all of my Blender resources to build on some of the the things I’ve learned since I started out in the wild world of 3D. I want to learn Yafray as well. I’ve used Blender since 2.23, along with Wings3D and PovRay, and as a hobbyist primarily, togther they have met my needs.

Elysiun has played the most signifigant role in my development outside of self learning and motivation. I’ve learned a lot.

With that said I will continue with Blender and the aforementioned apps, while learning Cinema 4D in the future. Have no fear Blender purists!

As mentioned ec2 above, it’s fine to know how to work with a commercial software. Especially so long as you want to work as a 3D artist seriously AND legaly. However we do love Blender, it lacks some important features (for the present  )and many of its tools behave different from most of the other 3D apps. So that’s the “Y”

CG Talk - Cinema 4D CE users thread.

Cinema 4D Fantasy Contest

Actually, there is a really great use for Cinema 4D CE. It imports and exports models from many other applications, and it can easily export models to dxf and vrml formats to import into Blender.

Cinema 4D is actually a pretty decent 3D app and I used it for over a year (as well as others, going back to 1991) before recently switching over to Blender.

Recently all I’ve used Cinema 4D for is converting models for Blender.

So what magazine is it going to be out with? I am always buying books in Barnes and Nobel, what should I look for? And is it worth looking for?

It was on Computer Arts Issue 88 - October 2003

It was on the cover disk for Issue 44 of 3D World magazine.
I picked up the CD when I purchased Issue 43 at Barnes and Noble.

It was also on Digit magazine, but I’m not sure of the issue number.

In my opionion, if you can still get a cover CD from any of those magazines, do it. Cinema 4D is a very powerful piece of commercial software. I’ve played with it some, done a couple of tutorials and I like its worflow. The modeling tools are exclellent and the render is very fast. On top of that there are a ton of free plugins to extend all aspects of the application. I can see myself using it in conjunction with Blender and vise versa.

Check out Igarashi Design The work there is an example of work done with this version of the software (CE is XL6.3).
Carles Piles work is some of the best in the world.

Hope this helps.

Well, I took the plunge. I purchased the upgrade to CE+ (see above). I ordered it on Sunday and it arrived today. I’ve registered and will be installing tonight.

I’ve bought computer arts too… great software, except for the damned rendering res limit! (Partial trick is to render directly on a big workin window)

Yes, it is a nice piece of software. Solid modeling tools, a VERY fast rayracer and lots of plugins to add the power of the software. I’m still learning. I’ve done a few tutorials and played with Importing from and to Wings3D and Blender.

I was going to go with the larage viewport workaround for renders, but I decided to upgrade to CE+ for possible future upgrade offers. Something was telling me I really shouldn’t pass it up.

Here is a tip. When exporting to Wings3D (and Blender I’m pretty sure) from Cinema 4D, reverse your normals before exporting. Whenever I didn’t do this, I had issues with my models showing correctly in the Wings3D (Blender’s) viewport.
