I said that to check if anyone’s interested, worked like a charm
about the interior, i decided that im not going to make it yet, i’m gonna make a finished piece without interior and maybe in some time i’ll get back to it. So as i said the modelling part is almost finished. And now i have a bit of a problem on choosing the renderer mainly internal or yafaray. Will have to do some tests on yafaray…
Damn you.
Blender Gallery work for sure.
And next to that, your laboratory and wiessman looks absolutely stunning.
Don’t be so shy, you are a Blender Pro.
Hmmm… Did you ever thought of making video tutorials about car modelling?
No 3d-artist can deny that you have potential.
And you can even ask money for it (if you can explain it step-by-step for the result like this, I’d certainly buy it).
The only thing though is that there is copyright on the blueprints of the car, so either you can ask Citroen to use their C2 Sport blueprints for a commercial purpose, or let people download it for free and if they like it that they can donate money.
Serious, think about it.
You help lots of people with it.
Rendered some shots over-night, what do u think? something makes it look fake, any clues ?
@ChevyVanDudeG20:
There are loads of really good free car modelling tutorials and making-of’s (i learned somehow, right ? :P) so there’s no point for me in doing them, especially that im not the best teacher to say the least. Many blender users (dont know about U) have the strange attitude of always searching for blender tutorials, everyone needs to see that modelling as a concept is the same for almost every app. It actually makes u learn blender much faster having to find all the right tools to make the same as they do in the tutorial.
If u have any particular questions i’ll be glad to answer
The most common mistake I make while car modelling is somehow not modelling the part from fender (you know front wheel arch) to the bonnet, that always fails with me.
So can you explain how you do that (preferred from the first plane to the full bonnet (or something), I think I can handle the rest).
This really looks great!
Would you care to share your material for the headlight covers? I’ve been working on a car and have been having a terrible time getting the headlights to look good.
Hmm, any suggestions about a good recorder for a video tut for linux ? i tried wink but it’s strange… it stores everything in memory which gets filled quite fast resulting in a nice system crash maybe ill try camstudio on windows, ill try to record my start of modelling an audi q7.
yeah, why not but it’s nothing special, actually the most important thing was setting the glass material to non-traceable with ray transparency IOR 1, it’s only there for a nice reflection. Here are my 3 mats that i use in the headlamps:
Ok, and now time for an update… i’ve been looking all around for a nice background and i think i finally got it inspired by BMW M3 challenge (really nice free game and a nice innovative advert ;]). I’m gonna render better shots overnight and post them tomorrow.
Your materials and scene are still letting down your excellent modeling, i think. If i were you, I’d find yourself a photograph and try and emulate it as close as possible.
What a boring, ugly and low resolution scene you have here.
Seriously, throw that away and try to work on a studio render.
A few minor crits I have about your model:
You need to model an underside for your car. Right now it is obvious that you use a distance limited AO and your car doesn’t have an underside so the shadow under the car is not as black as it should be.
The windshield wipers could be better
the rear window and the windshield should have that black paint on the sides
the plastic parts that keep the mirrors in place (in the front lights) should be visible
hmmm… i’m actually quite happy with how it looks… it’s not that bad
i tried setting up a nice studio but somehow the car doesnt quite fit in one. I’d rather refine the track to make it look better.
It’s modelled… well, it has a quickly modelled plane under the car only for shadow purposes.
2,4,5. yeah, they could be done, but i want to finish the whe whole piece this week… im not the best at finishing anything really so that’s the main point
thanx for pointing this out i forgot about it. Also ill add some textures to the car body as well.
as i said earlier… maybe sometime later…
And here’s 1.5 of a render the 1st one took 6h 22m didnt have enough patience for the second one… i seriously need to buy myself a new PC…
still playing with the scene… tried doing a studio again with no success so i got back on track, remodelled the fence, changed some textures added mist and voila (sry for the low quality… didnt want to waste too much time)
It’s looking good , however if you are going to make the windows that transparent, like cipix said, you need to add some suff inside, because it is looking kinda empty ;). I personally don’t really like the mist, and the ground texture could be better. It is a great car model though.
Keep up the good work :)!
y, well, maybe ill make some interior parts after all, would look even more unnatural if i would go for non-transparent glass…
hmm about the mist, it makes the car really stand out in my opinion so i like it that way, my friend told me (about earlier renders) that the car blends with the background, maybe it’s a bit too dense now ?
ground texture for some reason is really blurry, so ill have to work on that.
Anyways here’s the colored car
btw. i have a really annoying problem that i have no idea how to fix… for now (as u can see above) i did a quick fix in gimp but it’s not perfect. Here’s the bug, sliced part of the texture on the render:
any ideas why this happens? it’s okay in the texture view … there’s also a small but visible slice on the side texture, but only on the front shot… which makes it even more strange…
