Unlike last time, only did a Cycles render for now.
Modeled in SDF Modeler and then converted to polygons for Blender rendering.
- SDF Modeler total filesize: 90 kb
- Blender total filesize: 230 Mb
Similarly to the previous MagicaCSG model I built, time spent is very short compared to basically any other modeling technique, but SDF Modeler’s tool set is comparatively basic/limited so I had to wrestle/puzzle with it a bit to figure out how to solve for certain shapes (like the base cone isn’t a conical cylinder it’s a rounded cube, and the top cone isn’t a conical cylinder either it’s a spline, and there was one other shape I wanted to create but couldn’t figure out how to do because cylinders don’t have thickness in the current version).
Hopefully SDF Modeler will get more tools, modifiers and make all features consistent across all base geometry in the future, but for me it still has one massive advantage and that is that it’s available on Linux! ![]()
