Classical Double Bass WIP

So I’ve always been a fan of the double bass. I play it and just adore the instrument, and as I get more and more into 3d models I figured I would attempt to make it!
Here are some pictures of my first attempt, currently redoing it to fix topology etc, and just to make it all in all better!

There are some things I am happyish with, but most of it I am not, There are a LOT of n-gons and I had little to NO IDEA a proper way of going about making the scroll… I managed to get the current one out of a bezier curve

I started the second version from the f-holes rather than doing the shape THEN the f-holes. Happier with my topology but I think it could be better.

If you have any tips or tricks I’d be happy to read them!

Eventually I will be posting a textured version!

imo, you should go for a more even net-like topology, avoiding long skinny faces

I agree, that was probably a silly way to go about it. I was really concerned with the f-holes and wasn’t thinking as much on the rest of it.

just wanted to finally post the results after a long time of working. I decided mid way to chnge it to a low poly model, which took a couple tries at retopo-ing. Getting the textures right took awhile too, unwrap was very tedious…but in the end I managed to finish this model as a low poly double bass with 4 levels of display
Highest being 3149 Tris, And the lowest being 120 tris!
