I mainly use Blender to make effect meshes for game VFX, spending most of my time in Geometry Nodes. At some point, I realized I could use MCP to have Claude build first drafts for me. That worked, but hopping between windows for every request got tedious — effect-mesh work involves constant back-and-forth with manual editing. I kept thinking, “I wish I could just ask Claude from inside Blender” — so I built an add-on that does exactly that. It’s free, licensed under GPL-3.0, and a one-person hobby project.
It reverses the usual direction of blender-mcp and similar MCP setups. There, Claude sits outside and drives Blender. Here, you stay in the viewport, and a “Claude” tab in the N-panel forks the Claude Code session already running on your desktop. It inherits your conversation context and never writes to the original session. Requests can be written in your own language (mine are in Japanese in the demo).
My favorite use case is Geometry Nodes. The result comes out as an actual node group, so I can take over from there and keep adjusting it by hand.
One-shot operators for niche edits are handy too. Letting Claude do the editing itself turned out to be slower — you end up in endless round trips over small value differences that are a matter of feel. But when it builds the operator and leaves the parameter adjustments to me, a few F9 sliders get me to what I had in mind with far fewer round trips.
Single-purpose N-panel generators are useful for effect-mesh work too. I used to build general-purpose GN generators for shapes I use often, but generalizing takes real time, and the rarely used ones never justified the time they took to build. Now I just ask for a single-purpose generator on the spot whenever I need one. It’s faster and more flexible.
Every Python snippet submitted through execute_code is logged to a Text datablock (claude_bridge_log), along with result excerpts and errors, so you can audit what ran afterward. The Python code is not sandboxed. It can do anything the Blender process can do, and pressing Send is your approval. SECURITY.md explains the trust boundary, including how to disable code execution entirely. There are no additional API keys to configure; it uses your existing Claude Code login.
Requires Blender 4.2+ and Claude Code (installed and logged in). Tested with Blender 5.1.2 on Windows and macOS. This project is not affiliated with Anthropic or the Blender Foundation.
