Claw Hammer - Prop Study

A small prop study of a Hammer done as a Modeling + LookDev exercise.

The rope around the handle was done using Geometry Nodes and added some hair on it using Blender’s hair particles system. I enjoyed doing this one.

Modelled in Blender and Textured in Substance Painter. Rendered in Cycles.

I really like it, but may I suggest that the “abuse” of the metal might be “a bit too much?” It suggests damage in areas – such as the side above the handle – which probably wouldn’t experience damage while in (ab)use. This might be a case where “a little less, is more.”

However, I do think that the metal texture itself is very nice and believable – as is the wood, the handle in general, and the idea of wrapping rope around the grip. This is a solid, very believable, apparently well-used, claw hammer.

Haha Thank you! I had some references of a hammer where the side had been battered a bit as well as that was the look I wanted to go for.

Appreciate the kind words! It was a fun exploration.

Great!!! :muscle:
