Clay renders and GI

Iv’e been doing some yafray GI scenes lately and I have just two things to work out.

Materials. What are the shader settings that I should use to make my models look clay-like?

Area lights are SUPPOSED to be photon emitters, but they don’t effect my scene at all. So I had to put a sun in there :(.

Can somebody advise me on those two subjects? Thanks

Could try Sunflow, Kerkythea or Gelato renderers, (in that order) they have AO and Clay material overides, GI, etc etc and all free. Sunflow being OSS as well.

Minnaert for diffuse, 0.50

Cook torrance for specular, very low ‘specular’ and low ‘hard’

Normal ramps, white in the tangent areas

Fine bump-mapping

Photon mapping is a technique meant to be used in closed or almost closed enviroments.
Control lighting power with ‘exposure’ and ‘emitpwr’.
GI power = 1
When photons are enabled, use arelights in this way (emitter is a plane with emit enabled):

Thanks all! youv’e been most helpful:D
