Hey, I’m needing to produce product images of a clear plastic bottle with clear oil. Does anyone know of a good tutorial that may help on how to do this? I’ve done opaque bottles with the label, but not the translucent bottles.

but simply make the bottle material transparent and it shold work fine !
simply with Ztranps or use mirror and transp values!

Yeah, that makes sense. I’m primarily thinking about the oil looking like it’s in the bottle, and having that surface tension at the top, where it’s curved on the sides, and the top of the liquid almost has a thin border even with some small bubbles or something (hard to explain).
you can find many exmaple at yafaray site
you just defined another mesh mat inside the glass and make the top curved!

Honestly, that’s exactly what I tried - this same concept with a clear capsule that had a big bubble inside of the cap. It was no easy task to get the “liquid” mesh to really look like liquid. I was thinking about seeing if there was another way to do it. I ended up just putting another mesh inside of the map altogether for the bubble. Never was satisfied with the result, and figured it would be the same with the bottle.

so did you get the proper shape inside or not ?
and now what are the remainging problems you think?
if you want some refractions inside then you must have use the mirror and tranps panel to
to get proper result

but would definitively give better using yafaray renderer for refraction
but can still give some good render whit internal
but depends what you need in the end !

This is just a project I already did, and was not satisfied. I figured I would do some digging around before starting the bottle project.
I kind of got the proper shape inside, but was not satisfied. I first tried doing a boolean object, but that didn’t work.
Remaining problems - just doesn’t look as good as I’d like

How would you give thickness to the shell?
selet all faces and extrude inward or outward
that will give some meat fro the refraction effect !
try first ot make it work in blneder then when your done you can go further and begin playing with other renderer like yafaray
whicha re more powerfull but requires more time to complete but cana give render with a WOW!
