Well just get the .blend and judge for yourself what you can do with it. Basically it let’s you selected a plane and place it on a desired square position. This works in any camera angle view.

I just got bored and toyed around with this. Maybe if improved more you can get some sort of FFTactics style system where you can select the characters (planes in the current file), and move them to the desired positions. Right now you can move them virtually anywhere, but you can stick in limits if you’re python knowledgeable.
