Clipping while zoomed in

For some reason when I zoom in and use the sculpting tools like grab, I get strange screen tearing.

I can see what happens after I let go of the mouse click, but that isn’t really convenient. I tried playing with the clipping value, I lowered it from .100 and also tried raising it, but it made no difference.

I am on a gtx 970, 2600k, 16 gigs of ram, win 7 x64, Blender 2.74 x64.

I have also tried 2.75 RC1 and have the same issue.

This only happens when I zoom in, not when zoomed out. shows the issue

Did you change the camera’s clipping or the viewport’s clipping, which is in a completely different part of the interface.
