Cloth sim going through object

I’ve gone through other forums and none of the solutions there helped me. I have a sneaking suspicion that the solution is something easy because it usually is, but I don’t know what to do. I just have a table and want to have a table cloth on it, but when I run the cloth simulation, it goes through the table, but not all the way (pic attached). If anyone wants the .blend file, I can attach it, but it is kind of large.

Maybe try adding more subdivisions to the tablecloth, like ten more in edit mode or 1 or 2 in sub d modifier. Make sure the modifier is before the cloth modifier. It should just work with default settings, at least it just did for me.

It already has quite a bit of geometry, but I used a sub surf modifier anyways and it crinkled into the top part of the table. And I did make sure it was before the cloth modifier. I don’t think the amount of geometry is the problem.

Try to check if the normals are correct. I just tested it and if you have single sided checked on the collision, it will go through the normals that not facing upwards.

I tried flipping and recalculating the normals of both the table and the cloth and it didn’t work. I’ll attach the .blend file. I deleted everything in it except the table and the cloth so the file shouldn’t be as big.

Your scale is negative, it means your normals are inverted, even if you don’t see it.
Apply the scale and then recalculate the normals.

I applied the scale and recalculated the normals and it still goes through. Maybe I didn’t do it right? I did ctrl A to apply the scale and then recalculated the outside and inside. When that didn’t worked I also clicked “flip”. Did I do something wrong?

It worked when I did it. Try to us the face orientation overlay and make sure the table is blue.

Yes it worked! I didn’t know that feature was there. My table was red and I think this whole time I wasn’t actually changing any of the normals because I just realized you have to click A to have all the vertices and stuff selected in order for it to flip.
