This is a comp of some clouds I rendered. The foreground clouds are the render and the big mountain of cloud in the far background is a jpg off the internet. I was testing to see how well blender can spit out clouds.
Thanks! I used the internal Blender Render. I tried to make a tutorial on how I did it but its my first one and I am still pretty new to Blender so my explanations probably aren’t the best. Heres a link to it if you want to check it out.
Also, Cycles doesn’t render volumetric materials yet, and Blender Internal does pretty good job on it. I usually use Cycles for solid objects and Internal for clouds/halos/smoke…
Just out of interest, how long did it take to render?
the whole image looks great, although I think the rendered clouds could be a bit (really just a bit) smoother in order to become more believable. Nevertheless it’s a great result…
(only that tweaking and tweaking … too many places to tweak in unknown steps … hmm … blender … I love him, but when I spent few hours by tweaking I’m doubting about my love …
(@andrepazleal: would be great to share blende file with setup
Ya I would like to be able to render volumes with cycles. I know there is a shader out there for it as I have seen it in a thread here but I am not sure how to get it into Blender. The render took 50 minutes and 1080p, so for sure not something you would want to make a fly through with a camera lol.
Yes I agree, good eye. The edges are too fractally, as you said smoother would help it. I guess I had been messing around with clouds too much over the past while at work that I didn’t want to spend a lot more time at home tweaking it. But none the less good point
