Hi Cog,

I almost didn’t click your link because the picture you posted here doesn’t look all that great, but the animations on your sight are really awesome. I can’t wait for this ocean tut! Thanks for helping us out.

I think that both the animation and picture looks good! I cant’ wait it to be published! thanks

I tried your previous ocean tutorial yesterday and it opened my eyes to some features within blender that I had not encountered before. Based on that 9 second clip I’d say that I’m eagerly waiting for your next tut.

Hi RamboBaby,

I’ve added a higher resolution and less web compresssed image for you. Hope you like.

Cog

Wiiiiiiiiiiiii,
can’t wait.

Cog

woo hoo, should be up by the end of the day, good luck on the CGS FX challenge too.

Wow Cog I always enjoyed your oceans but for the competition you’re gonna have some real competition :]

So heads up and start blending!
P

I can’t wait until the tutorial comes out!

You should make a movie.

Hi all, Part 1 of my new ocean techniques in Blender is published.

I split it in two to shamelessly meet my own deadline.

Cog

Part 1 saved!
P

Impressive, i’ve seen all of your tutorials and is impressed by your techniques. Something that really could be applied to any image or animation.

I got something wierd, I put a lamp in there so maybe you’ll see it better.

Hi Genin-jc87,

Select all the mesh vertices and from the object editing selection (F9) choose Set Smooth.

Also check in side view to make sure you haven’t scaled the outer vertices up as well as out producing a bowl shaped plane rather than flat.

Cog[/quote] I thought it was bowl, bit it is flat. I’ll try smoothing it. Thanks. And good job.

Yet another great tutorial!!

However, I seem to be having trouble getting it to look right. My waves are there, but my small waves don’t seem to be showing up. I’ve checked all of my settings on the textures, and every single one of them matches. I just cannot figure out why they aren’t there. Any tips?

oh if only someone could give you micro plot displacment mesh :frowning:

great work, while i have to admit, when this is for a competition that you will have some tough pieces to fight against. the biggest flaw in yuor animation is that it looks like that you have two fractal maps wich are not sync.

the bigger map creating the waves and a smaller one for the surface structure. also the fractal seems to swim.

this might work against you.
