Collaboration?

Hello everyone,

I am new here and know almost nothing about animation. I love to write. I usually write short stories and poems (that are really stories too). I would like to see those animated or put to video. Anyone here interested in a collaboration? We could possibly enter a contest.

Anyway, here is a sample of my stuff (plus you can see more on my website galleryofthemind.com) so you judge whether we’re a possible match:

In Memory…

She said she’d come… our plans were laid
She promised… but only the soldiers came
So, I stand alone… simply betrayed
I stand with only… the memory of her name

Salacious howls approach me
With sharp swords… to tear me apart
But I’m blind to all… but memory
Of a name… which breaks my heart

Sweet love I called… to a ghost in my head
In response to the cuts… from all around
Her name on my tongue… as I bled
Her memory with me… as I hit the ground

With only one thought… I died there
In memory of a name… that didn’t care

The Magic Circle

I stand in the circle with horror so near
Beasts and demons pound the ground
They cry out vibrations of pain and fear
And fill the night with threatening sounds

Around the air forever foul
Vomit sweat and nightmares
Locked in walls of gruesome growls
With mirrored reflections of my despair

From powerful curses they were born
Leaving all they cross with only regret
Returning to where the circle was drawn
What one does give one does get

They return the horror, which I gave
And I step out of the circle and into the grave

This is quite moving - I pressume you are writing a poem about size, fonts, romans.

Well, the post didn’t come out so well. Here is what poems should have looked like:

An author is always happy when someone gets their stuff!

Good one

I myself am a bit of a poet and have thought about this numerous times. The fact of the matter is that an animation would be a huge undertaking. I personally can get a poem I like written in like a week (I’m by far no great poet) but an animation to match could take up to a year. I think perhaps instead of an animation you might rather look for someone who would be willing to do an image to fit the poem. I actually took a poem I wrote and made an image to go with it for my art final at school. It took me about a month to get that done; an animation, although possible, would take some serious dedication.

My cousin (RedJay) and I have done this (there is a link to it in my sig). And yes, it does take some time… with the (very simple and abstract) animation we did, it still took about four months start to finish. But M3ta had a good idea… get someone to do an image for the poem. In fact, by the reverse, some of the images I’ve seen here have inspired poems or short stories that I’ve written. (For the record: I am a very poor Blender user, the stuff I’ve created is stuff that I’d never want anyone to see so most of the projects I’ve been involved with have been in a collaborative fashion: concept art, scripting, storyboarding, and even some voice acting. :D)

Time for new romans to size in threes!
Great poem. Bit repetitive though.

Thanks for all the replies! I didn’t know animation took so long. I told you I was new to this.
I have someone who can draw single pictures for my poems. But I’d like live action.
Maybe video is the way to go. Any suggestions on where to find video makers who might be interested in a collaboration?

does image shack host .gif files ? I could post a sample.
I have one character in the makings that would like a story for him.
