Collection could not be appended from a .blend file

I use Blender 5.1.1 on Linux. I have a .blend file with a collection of brushes, textures, HDRI, etc. This file was distributed with the course and it seems it was created in Blender 3.x.

When I try to append items (for example, brushes) from the collection into my project in Blender 5.1.1 nothing is added. If collection file is opened directly there is nothing in it as well.

I manually installed binary builds of Blender 3.6 and 4.2 and in both of these versions I can successfully append brushes to the new file. So I tried to re-save original collection file using 3.6 and 4.2 versions. Unfortunately, I still have the same problem with appending brushes, even if I use re-saved files as a collection source.

The library file can be downloaded from here. Could you please help me with using it in Blender 5.1?

The first thing to try is to contact the instructor and see if he is willing to update this.

The second thing is that brush formats have changed since 4.xx, when they became part of the asset library… To update, you would need to extract the textures and save them to a folder. Image is appending data from the original download Blend…

Then rebuild as brushes. You still have to save them as an asset in an asset library.
