This has been created in Blender-Cycles, Zbrush, Photoshop.
This model is uv mapped and ready for 3D printing in color.
I hope to have the money for the prints soon from Shapeways.
I will update with a photo when that happens.
I did the displacement and pattern in zbrush. I will work on getting it smoother. Im trying to minimize the polygons without decimating the mesh, in order to maintain the UV mapping for color 3D printing.
this image is larger than the real grip and the 3D printing process will have less resolution.
I am hoping this will blend in the final product
Are you aware that the colour printing technique shapeways employs is really not fit for tools? The ‘sandstone’ they use is really fragile. And if that is the process you will use… it should have more resolution, not less… unless you’re making a grip for a tiny toy gun.
thank guys for the tips.
macouno. yes I am aware of the limitations with the full color sandstone. I was going to test it and maybe support it with a coating to more strength. most of my designs will be printed in stronger materials or 3d milled into solid materials.
this was mostly a test and I think i have worked out the low res look to it.
