I am thourougly confused, intrigued, and afraid of the colorband. What is it? How should it be used? How is it used in a practicle example?
Thanks for your time,
Don.
I often use it, when i want Cloth to appear more realistic…or skin. It gives a softer apperance. Therefor it has to be set to ‘normal’ instead of ‘shader’, and maybe ‘add’. Then the color range must be inverted and the blueish (is this correct english?) color set to white or a light red/orange. Just give it a try.
Softer is a very good way to describe it but if you don’t use them correctly you end up with Froot Loops. Stay away from the specular color ramp (for the most part) as it will make your renders look fraudulent. As for the diffuse color band try to stick with colors of a similar tonal range (from light to dark or vice versa) to give your renders more of a “wrapped” lighting look. This helps to bring out highlights and soften low lights rather than having diffuse shading simply fade to black.
