Hi, I had a dig through the knowledgebase and search on this forum but couldn’t find anything about this. I imported an object from one blend file to another, combined the objects and merged the vertices to make it one object. The problem is though, that when I apply a material to the main mesh, the added part remains the same colour. I am quite confused about this as it is now all the same object and connected together properly. Could anyone please tell me how to fix this?
Select the added part
Go to the edit buttons
Find where it says material index
add a new material index
Texture switching between indexes in the shader editor.

NOTE: up to 16 material indexes can be applied per mesh.
You could also delete the remaning material (in the edit section where kansasa said)… after applying the new material …
