So I’ve spent the last few days completely redesigning my Blender-blog, “How much mesh can a MeshWeaver weave?”
I just got frustrated with the old look, it was just plain boring.
Now, however, there’s a completely new colour scheme and template, entirely new sections devoted to specific subjects such as tutorials, a Gallery, a project page devoted to my current WIP (see signature), an “About Me” page, a page full of Blender-related links, and really just a much better look and organization method.
You’ll find tutorial announcements, project updates, blog post notices, and plenty of Blender-related stuff just popping up in short Tweets - lucky you, now you won’t have to endure my sometimes-super-long posts
anyway, I look forward to seeing you around! May the Blend be with you!
Looks like time well spent. I especially like how you got your galleries to thumbnail in (like from DA). Header is a little tall (in height) and maybe a 25-33% black overlay on the background, but not necassary as it doesn’t detract in anyway. Looks good!
Ya, edit the image in gimp, use it as your background layer. Then make a new layer over it, fill it 100% black and change the opacity of the new layer to 33% or so, then save a copy. This will “darken” (fade it to black) the image. The point of this suggestion was because when you view your gallery, the gallery items should be your focus, but the background draws your attention away from your other renders and makes the page “busy”. Just an opinion though, I fully appreciate why you would want to show the background off in full force (it’s a nice render).
Cool, I noticed it when checking the link from my site, I like it better. You also inspired me to put a little more effort into mine as well. Hopefully it’s cool I linked to yours, if not, let me know.
@sfBlackfox - thanks for the suggestions, I’ll look into it
edit - wow, I’m in “Respected Artists”… and Robo3Dguy’s there too, awesome I quickly looked through your site, and I’ll add it to my Blender Sites page, if that’s ok with you there’s lots of interesting things and links (btw, those LEGOs are amazing, they look like the real thing)
