How do I apply a drop shadow effect for my 3D model while compsiting it with a photograph?
Yes. You create a plane upon which the shadow will fall. Then, using compositor nodes, you keep only the shadow information (location and density), and use that as you see fit. The plane is never visible.
It’s also possible to do a 2D drop shadow effect, but you’ll need basic compositing skills.
It’s not rocket science either.

Thank you!!!
That’s actually the old method. Now you can just enable “Shadow Catcher” under Object Properties>Visibility.
Although this feature only works with Cycles.
