Compositing - Animation

I call this little piece “Orbits.” I kind of got the idea both from Fiat Lux and a demo animation from Aqsis’s website.

I was thinking about trying to do this in Yafray, too. Any thoughts?

When I download or save target, it says as an AVI that neither Quicktime nor DivX can play. I tried changing the file extesion but that didn’t work either.
I’ve had similar trouble with other files on the Forum.
Any ideas?

Make sure you have the DivX CODEC installed in your OS, and try another player (it works fine when I play it on an older version of Windows Media Player). The DivX player is quite buggy and Quicktime can’t access codecs in windows. Well, try this (Indeo codec):

Sorry, didn’t think of using good ol’ Media Player, since you mentioned it was a DivX. I like the scene! How many planes did you map the background picture to? Was it just one vertical for the pic and then another horizontal just there to receive shadows?

I added a huge cube, flipped normals inside, then mapped the tga from the hdr picture (from eeshlo’s lovely little MHDR prog) using spherical mapping. Then, just one plane for shadows. I actually had to render the whole thing at double resolution and scale down, because I couldn’t get rid of some horrible bias issues in the shadow, but it scaled nicely.

Glad to see that you could see it on your comp. I just love WMP 6 (no bloat that I don’t need).

hey bro that is pretty cool

BUT the rings rotate through each other which is impossible!!!

perhaps make each ring conect to the next ring inwards. then you would get some seriously cool effects.

like one of those human gyroscope things that you cna jump in.

THEY ARE COOL but pretty damn fast.

see ya
