My PC is super laggy while rendering or using viewport render. The render itself is fine, but the rest of the computer can’t hang.

-Samsung EVO SSD
Would buying a separate GPU just to run the monitors help? If so, does the quality of the GPU make much difference?
this is computer 101. if the computer is working hard, then it will lag.
yes, adding another gpu will fix this, but your computer for everything else will be limited to the performance of the gpu hosting the monitor.
i recommend no less then a 700 series, preferably a 1000 series, and at best another 1080 which you could set to use both for final renders to about double the speed. really, any card listed in the compatibility list for your driver would do.
