I’m about to start my first architectural visualization contract and I’m a bit confused about whether I would be allowed to use paid textures I personally own in this job since the company will be using the renders for commercial purposes. As I understand it I can use them since I am a subcontractor rather than an employee.
The textures are from textures.com
Terms of use

This seems pretty clear:
- Content downloaded may be used for personal and commercial use (provided the use is in compliance with these terms and conditions).
So, commercial use is allowed. That’s that ![]()
Thanks, I really overthought this. I’m it seems as long as I’m not providing project files I’m good to use them.
I do this all the time as well, esp. if it comes to licensing. One thing I did learn though, is to write e-mails without trying to figure out everything myself. Esp. if you ask the business owner/support they tend to respond quite quickly (as this is money for them), and you mostly can’t get wrong answer from them regarding their own product licensing.
Yes, the main issue is about redistributing massive content. If there wasn’t a redistribution clause, I could pick a bunch of texture.com textures and sell a pack of texture.
To avoid that, and it’s the same with 3D models or else, you can use the file but not redistribute it.
Sending the project files to your client is probably part of a gray area, and it’s very likely that no-one will care if you do so. The main issue being re-selling texture to a large audience.
These things are quite unavoidable in the professional world I’m pretty sure the people at texture.com are the first to understand.
In any case I’m not a lawyer so as @VertexMachine suggested, ask them if you really think it’s worth !
Have fun !
