confused on texturing and materials in cycles-help

im confused on why the pictures wont texture on the desk,and the books. what am i doing wrong? and how do i fix this?


The short answer would be: apply the textures properly. Without seeing your blend file, or at least your material setup (preferably nodes), there’s no more to say really.

know how to screen shoot nodes? or know how to upload the blend file? im a noob at forums and now barley getting my head rapped around cycles.

Screenshot nodes using any desktop screenshot software (Print Screen key will do on Windows). You can upload pictures and blend files to pasteall.org, and post links to them subsequently.

heres the screenshot of the nodes for the table. (the object with the messed up texturing job)

You need to use a mix node/ Then plug a diffuse node into the top slot of the mix node, then the glossy node into the bottom. The start off setting the fac of the mox node at about .100. That fac amount controls how much of the glossy node is let through tot he object.
You will then plug the image texture into the diffuse node.
This is really basic and there are lots of tuts out there you can learn from. Slow down and do some research.

@renaissanceman, you need to use Texture Coordinate node to apply any texture node. Object Info >> Location is not for texturing.

Texture Coordinate is available in Add >> Input menu
