About
Viewport shadows may be useful for blocking complex scenes and planning where shadows should fall.
Unfortunately their direction can only be controlled with a gizmo, no drivers, and it uses a weird coordinate system that is incompatible with rotational vectors.
This tool takes the rotation of your sun lamp, translates it into the right coordinates, and applies it to the viewport shadows light direction, ensuring perfect parity between viewport shadows and rendered shadows.
Requirement: Blender 2.8 or later
How to use
In the 3D Viewport, bring up the sidebar. (keyboard shortcut N)
You will find a tab named “Viewport Shadows”.
Simply select your sun lamp in the object drop down, then press the button below.
