Constraining vertex's's's

I was reading through some new tutorials that i found, and one of them was a pretty good thing, showing how to make a flag with animated textures, but it never describes how to make the points that are near the flagpole stay still. How do i do that? here is the tut for referance.

The blend texture acts like a stencil letting the animated textures show through less and less towards one edge (the fixed edge). I hope that makes sense.


ooo i get it, i didnt realize that the stencil texture was holding it still. I will refine my blend texture and see if that works.
