In my latest render I noticed some strange lines flowing with the body.
Could it be the lighting, or is it the blender internal renderer? I don’t have any textures applied.
I’ve got an area light, a spot and two lamps.
As for lighting in blender I really don’t know a thing.
It looks like the light placement, to me, could be better. I like the funny character though.
A good test is to simply delete all your lights and turn Ambient Occulsion. Set your samples to 3 for a quick-render, 7 for reasonable final, and 5 for compromise. You need to have raytracing turned on for this to work. I generally set the Ambient Occulsion to Sky Color and then enable blend in the world settings. This produces a gradient shading effect that you can tweak by simply picking different colors for the gradient.
Just the AO produces a very flatly lite scene, so I think he just wants you to check to see if it still occurs with the very simple “lighting” AO produces.
What image format are you saving your renders? It is possible that could cause some problems.
hah! =D nice to see you people guessing. I’m saving them as .jpg’s
atom was right from the beginning…
I multiplied the area light with lower intensity to have a smoother gradient.
