Control text content based on frame number

I know this might be not the best ethical practice but I think this image is the best way to describe my question:

I want to make a text content vary along the animation. This image shows an example built in Cinema4D that makes the text content be the same as the frame number.
Though I fancy this node type programming, I can cope with text based.
Anybody care to throw their two cents in how I can achieve this in Blender?

Does blender have a node editor related to programming?
