Conventions when citing polycount?

Hey everyone. I’m just curious if there’s a convention concerning polycount.

When I say my scene has X # of polys, is this usually before or after subsurfing?

Before. It’s a property of the basic mesh object it self.

I always strive to do a before sub-surf poly count.
and if there is a vast difference i will quote an “after” sub surf poly count.

normally a factor of 4 or more times difference. the second denotes render time/performance, the first denotes model complexity.
