Is there a way I can convert my envelopes into vertex groups that effect the exact same vertices as the envelopes do, so I don’t have to go through the ridiculously painful process that is rigging with vertex groups?
I don’t know, but why do you want to convert them? Aren’t they working?

Envelopes do not work in the game engine, and I just figured out how.
Sure!!! The only thing you gotta do is to enter in weighting mode, select the bone you want to convert to and press “W”, then select the option that appears. It converts the envelope to painted vertex.
