convert softbody to solid object?

Is it possible to use the softbody engine to transform an object and then keep the transformation for every frame (if animating) ?

Say I need a cloth that I want to import into another scene.

I think Im thinking like : hitting Alt-c on almost anything with a modifier on it subsurf/text/beziercurve etc. - Am I making my self clear here? :slight_smile:
