Coo 3D World printed my e-mail

 Probably not that important to anyone else :expressionless:  but its the first time i’ve managed to get anything in a magazine, just my attempt to keep them on thier toes about Blender.

Ken Laidlaw

Congrats, what did it say?

My E-mail said :

As an avid reader of 3D World and an enthusiastic user of Blender, I just want to nag you into taking a fresh look at this open source 3D package.
There have been a great number of additions to the software recently, including HDRI support (via the render extension Yafray), GI lighting, support for normal maps, and a start at introducing support for soft bodies.
I really think its worth a try, and like the best things in life - including speech and beer - its free.

there was also e-mails concerning Blender from :open_mouth: mar Marquez and Winfried Dobbe.

3D worlds answer was:

Do we detect a theme emerging?
While we do rotate the applications featured in our Q&A section each issue, Blender is now a regular fixture and will return in issue 67.
Since space in the buyers guide is limited, we initially chose to prioritise commercial products, but we hope to introduce new sections in future.

Ken

beer is free? since when?

Dunno, but whatever country Ken’s from, I’m moving there.

You still pay for beer??? :o

What a strange and cruel country you must live in!!!???

Hmmm could be that i had a bit too much when I wrote that :expressionless:

Mind you for me it is mostly free cos my neibour brews his own…err beer that is

K (hic) en

funny you should post this thread; I just picked up a copy of 3d world magazine today from B&N.

Seems that there is a “theme emerging”… It’s odd that 3d world as paid almost no attention to what is obviously a very handsome package for its price. Isn’t it kind of selfish to only mention commercial software when a free program could attract more readers?

and there it is… 3d world makes more money from its advertisers than from magazine sales, which is why blender is not getting the attention it deserves.

Boooooo. :frowning:

Hey rocketman,

is it the june issue (with the mails about blender) of the magazine or the july version you picked up?

check out page 98 of the july number , issue 66, in the buyers guide blender is mentioned and you really have to try hard to ignore the logo

greets

July Issue?! It’s not even June.
Uh oh, is there something in it that makes my previous post idiotic?
If so, I’m willing to eat my words for the sake of Blender and 3d world mag.
Still, did it really take them that long to to recognize blender? I think it could do with some more articles.
