Copying Attributes from one Vertex Group to Anonther?

Hi there, here’s my scenario:
I have a mulit legged creature that is a mirror(identical) in both x and Y axis.
I added an armature and parented the mesh to the armature using envelopes and makeing vertex groups based on the name of the bone.
I then went in and weight painted some parts on one leg that wasn’t to my liking. I am now happy with the way that one leg deforms.
What I want to know is… can I now tell one vertex group to copy the weight values from another vertex group? This way the other legs will deform identicaly as the first. I’m assuming that each vertex has a weight value attached to it. Being able to copy these values on to another group would make finishing this rig much easier and faster. I’m kinda hoping I don’t need to hand paint all the rest of the legs on this thing. Eeeesh.
Anyway… thank you in advance if you can shine a light on this.
Thanks
M
P.S. I’m using Blender 2.49
