Copying pieces of IPO fragments?

Is it possible to select portions or fragments of an IPO curve and copy this fragment into the middle of another existing IPO curve?

I have tried to use the search facility to find an answer but IPO is too short a term for the engine.

Many thanks.

No, this isn’t possible (AFAIK). It’s an interesting idea though. It’s IPO, by the way. As in InterPOlation. For some reason the I is often capitalized when the other letters aren’t, so you often see Ipo.

And, for what it’s worth, the true hardcore blenderheads always pronounce it EYE-PO.

Oops I’ve been getting the acronymn wrong all this time. I’ll correct the post. Thanks for the heads up. Explains why I get very little info on searches.

I managed a rough workaround for any that might find it useful.

I copied the source IPO from an object and pasted it on the destination object using something that I would not normally use, like dampening. I then trimmed the curve down to just be the section I want, move it on top of the curve that I want to have the piece…

Then finally trace the piece and delete the trace.

Not elegant but it served the purpose.

yes. just select the keys that you want and use the copy to buffer button. the channels will be the same, for example, if you have the RotX and RotY channels active, in key mode, and copy the keys for frames 100 and 120, you can paste them into another mesh object…or a camera.

Hi PapaSmurf. Thanks. I just gave that a shot and it didn’t quite work as expected. I copied points 7, 8 & 9 to the copy buffer and left point mode. Selected another curve, went to point mode, selected an area to paste, and it made the whole curve identical to the copied curve.

(Must have copied the entire curve to buffer as opposed to copying the points).

correct. you can copy channels of a key or a curve, but not random points of a curve to a different channel (different curve). RotX points copied have to be pasted to a RotX channel.
