Corsair H45 liquid CPU cooler installation

Good afternoon

I’m more than a little confused re how to install a Corsair H45 liquid CPU cooler on a Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5 TH motherboard, specifically : what motherboard headers do the cables from the cooler go to (ie the plastic-coated 4-pin connector and the fabric-covered 3-pin connector) ?

The CPU_FAN header on the board is 4-oin, and the CPU_OPT header is 4-pin.

Also on the board are SYS_FAN1, SYS_FAN2, SYS_FAN3 and SYS_FAN4. Sys-fans 1-3 are 4-pin and sys-fan 4 is 3-pin.

I have one case fan at the rear of the case, which has a 3-pin cable.

Am I correct in thinking that :

The fabric-covered 3-pin cable (pump power cable ?) needs to connect to CPU_FAN ?
The plastic-coated 4-pin cable (fan power cable ?) needs to connect to CPU_OPT ?
The case fan needs to connect to SYS_FAN4 ?

As far as I’m aware , the board supports CPU fan speed control, and the Corsair H45 has adjustable fan speed controller.

Your guidance will be very much appreciated. Thanks

AFAIK, the CPU_OPT headers are for the pumps, and you want the CPU_FAN for the fan.

The fan speed is how your system adjust the cooling capacity of the cooler, you want the pump running at full speed all of the time.
