Cotton ball texture help

Hey,

I am new to Blender, and was hoping to get some input on how to create a cotton ball. I cannot figure out an affective way to get anything near the look of a cotton ball.
So far, I have attempted to create textures(using cloud), manipulating the transparency settings, and creating objects inside of objects(to create depth).
Unfortunately, nothing has worked out

Can anyone point me in the right direction? It would be super appreciated!

Thanks,
Peter.

might be able to get something like it using some particules system with curves or even hair!

did you check at material repository to see if there are anything like that ?

see this for fur

http://matrep.parastudios.de/index.php?action=category&category=15-fibrefur

happy 2.6

Thanks RB,

But I am afraid I know too little about both particles and hair, to attempt a realistic looking cotton ball.
I did stumble across ShaderTools, but am having a difficult time installing it(I have a Mac)?

Are there any other suggestions? or step by step instructions anyone can think of?

Anything will be appreciated,
Peter.

well try to find some tut on hiar
it’s easy to use

look at cgcookie or may be blenderguru for tut

that should help you understand how to use particules and hair !

did you look at the site for mat and tet
there is one there that looks a little like a cotton ball !
