I can’t seem to access the bug report thingy at the moment,…if someone could report this for me, I would appreciate it:
add sphere ( UV or ico )
go into a front or side view
without leaving edit mode, select some faces
call up and use the knife tool
next action = crash. ( I’m running windows if that matters )
Works ok in the current CVS version here.

I last installed just two days ago, so i would assume my version is the recent one.
<edit> I don’t know what a cvs is, are you referring to the bug tracker forum, or the blender?
Try and see if it does it with this version: http://www.clubinfo.bdeb.qc.ca/~theeth/Work/self_blender.exe
