Cozy ramen

Hello there,
Would it be possible for you to share some more details on how you made this, or some wire frames?

For the city I used a Google map blender add-on and imported new York city. I basically used this as a template for the layout of buildings and used geometry nodes to instance buildings I had already made on the faces. Used volumetrics, the main source of light is a hdri and sun light. As for the building in the foreground, it’s just modelled in stages, slowly adding more details, like pipes, panels, cables, ect. I’ll send the wireframe when I’m home

The only thing that is not right is the title: “Cozy …” … brrrhhh, this rain makes me feel cold. There is no protection from the rain. The ramen is probably already cold. A customer would never sit there and enjoy this wonderful meal. Yet I like the contrast.

Stunning image, thanks for the breakdown. Nice seeing how the magic happened.

Nice moody glimpse of a huge metropolis, and thanks for showing (and telling) how you put it together.

This is really nice work and has a lot going for it. However, unless this downpour literally started one or two seconds prior, I believe the concrete would be completely wet and reflecting the lights etc. It would actually add another layer of realism make it feel even more dynamic, imho.

Thank you, you’re right. I had the concrete at the lowest roughness but I think the light angle and bump map are removing some of the reflections

You could add a plane like 1mm above concrete and give it typical water surface settings, then displace or bump to your liking. And maybe scatter some instances of a raindrop splash you could make in mere minutes in sculpt mode… Or just get the BagaRain addon (or similar) and let it make quick work of this for you.
