Which is the better CPU for Blender - AMD or Intel? Ryzen 5 3600 and i5 9600k are my options. Ryzen outperforms the i5, but I hear there were problems with AMD CPUs and GPUs from Blender’s side. Is AMD Ryzen as largely problem-free with Blender as Intel is?
P.S. It doesn’t really make much of a difference between AMD’s multithreading and Intel’s singlethreading in Blender, does it?
It depends on what you want to do with your CPU. Simulation benefits from single core performance while you can render more tiles simultaneously with more cores.
And again I am not aware of problems with AMD CPUs. Where did you read that?
AMD did not have a good single thread performance until some time ago, but AMD’s latest generation even surpasses many intel CPUs in single thread performance. Ryzen 5 3600 is a good option if you want to opt for AMD.
