CPU or GPU for 24 fps?

Unfortunately my old laptop is not strong enough for 24 fps and I guess I need a new one.

But do I just need a strong CPU for animating or also a good (ATI/Nvidia) GPU?

For the viewport and other part of the UI I guess a good GPU will help. For rendering it’s all CPU for now.

But this is a problem for heavier scenes even in professional productions. Then you use the OpenGL render viewport feature, it just renders out the viewport to a movie file so you can watch it in vlc or whatever program you like.
