Craft Director Studio - also in Blender possible, just a bit harder

Hey there,

My brother recently showed me a nice plugin for other major 3d apps. Here’s a demoreel for the so called “Craft Director Studio”:

I’m sorry, if this was shown here before, just thought it’s worth mentioning it.

With this plugin it is really easy to just plug in an xbox-controller and use some preprogrammed vehicles (aircraft, cars, even people), move and record them according to your joystick movements. Hence, you can animate realistic and physically driven objects in your scene. You get a very cool result, when you place a camera in front of a car and steer it with the xbox-controller. We definitely need this for blender. And guess what - we already have it

You just need to set up logic bricks to get the data from the joystick. Then you route the output to some python scripts. There is one very good Tutorial for creating a python script for a realistic vehicle behaviour(sry, forgot the link, but you’ll certainly find it on the web). Then you normally just need to press “Record Game Physics to IPO” and you’re good to go. The downside however is, that there are no preprogrammed presets in Blender 3D so far and you need to be an advanced skilled user to implement the feature of a cool driving vehicle.

Maybe this can inspire some people to create such an addon (I’m on my way to learn blender python, but I’m not really useful yet  ). This’d be a great animation aid for sure.

See you,
Adam
