Been awhile, started sculpting for fun again.

I started using Blender to make my items virtual for my home business etching art onto items with a CO2 laser I bought last year. I wanted to join the old practice of paper printed proofs for customer’s accepting size and position with the idea of CG preview. I’m using the image gotten from the preview window of LightBurn so that the preview stencil is detailed with the accurate line screen and scale in mms to what I will be doing IRL.

Wondering now how to simplify this further for selling the previews out to other shops for their items somehow, but that’s another story.

Working up a base mesh in dyntopo for a space ship and then got carried away with the shading portion

of the afternoon

Got permission to show this stuff that is internal product and not on the big name list. Photography is so expensive to arrange that it is easier to do a 3d model of product shots for packaging, so that is how I got started 10 years ago with the internal brand of the plastic products.

I usually have to do a few iterations before I get close enough, but it generally gets doctored up in Photoshop for inclusion in the Illustrator packaging dieline art.

I’ll share some here from now on when I have no NDA.

Material Preview and Cycles preview of the five containers I am working on.
Lots of time spent working out forms and still not ever satisfied, but it is all about cheating the camera anyway.
