crash blender with ati rage 128 pro ubuntu 8.41

I try using blender 2.45-2.47 with an ati rage 128 pro , the blender interface run well until i entering to edit mesh mode and it will frozen.
system ubuntu 8.4.1, with xserver.xorg.video.ati 1:6.8.0-1 driver.
with glxinfo direct rendering:yes
Have someone this same problem?

Try the static MesaGL version of Blender.

Also, make sure you’re not running any fancy stuff like Compiz.

Thanks for reply, im not use compiz and i had try the static versions too, but the problem is same, maybe an other vga will be help :slight_smile:

Or try different drivers for your card. I think the vendor binaries should be quite good.
