Crash when trying to pack files.

Why does Blender close when I try to pack the external data? I am using a makehuman mesh with image textures UV mapped and bump mapped to the character. Everything renders fine and works fine until I want to pack those image textures into the .blend file. Then Blender crashes.

The images are TIF and Blender version is 2.49.

Maybe images are too large?

I think we are struggling to know what to suggest, as it could be lots of things I suppose. Packing usually works for me, certainly. Maybe enable the console and see if it says anything immediately before the crash?

I also crash when trying to load new images in UV editor, or in theTexture Subcontext Image Load.

Did you use angular maps for the skies?

Yeah. Used one of Madcap’s sky textures mapped to a sphere with the normals flipped. However, I did this in a separate blend file and then loaded the image frames from both .blend files into the sequence editor in yet a third blend file and used alpha-over effect to composite them. Then it was just a matter of rendering in a AVI Jpeg format.

For some reason,I can’t even place the sphere(Halved) in the same .blend file as my character. It crashes when I try to load the sky texture image. So I have to render from separate files. Did this process with each short clip. As you can imagine I have a LOT of .blend files on my PC. If the camera is animated I usually just append it into the .blend file of the sky so it brings the same IPO curve with it.

Seems it is taking me forever do finish this video. The first few clips were created as I was just learning Blender so they are a bit amateuristic, then when I learn something new, I always want to go back and change something. Makes for slow going.

I hope I haven’t bitten off more than I can chew.

OOPS! I meant to give Optiks credit for the sky maps. As a matter of fact Atom, you posted the link to the link in your signature. I used one of the sphere maps. The one with the cool HUGE moon.
