I am not a big Mac user but I need to get Blender 2.49b working on systems in a Mac lab in an educational setting. Never used Blender before. 2.56a works but we don’t want to run the beta version in a classroom setting. I have tried switching the default python used on the system to python 2.5.4 but it still crashes as soon as the application is launched. The frame of the window comes up with blender in the title bar but nothing else and it crashes immediately.
I have tried this on a Mac Pro 2.66 Quad Core, 6GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce GT 120 and an iMac 3.06 Core2Duo, 4GB RAM, ATI Radeon HD 4670.
Have you installed blender on an external drive. I’ve seen this cause crashes before.
You don’t need to faff around installing a specific version of python, the correct python should be installed by OSX 10.6.x
Can you get any crash logs
