I found this crayola easy animator thing in Home Bargains the other day and though the idea was pritty cool.
Also found someone else asking about it in blender here but not many responces:
Its an app that takes a photo of the armature then figures out all the bone positions from the markings on each body part then matches it in 3d, move the timeline along and reepte till u have a rough animation. It seems a nice solution instead of using complicated electronics. It wouldnt be real time so , no live pupetering but thats not the point. Would be good for childrens workshops using blender and could have more controll than the crayola software allows.
Anyone interested in getting this armature to work in blender. Seems pretty standardized.
Or we could make our own open source 3d printable / laser cuttable version/ papercraft.
The aproach is interesting, but lack of finguers guive not advantage at all from other home mocap solutions. Anyway the camera markers aproach is far more easy of implement and cheap to produce that the small sensors aproach that othaer companies have came with. Qumarion it’s about 750$
the aproach of cameras and markers seems a good idea, as i see even in the comertial model fingers are the weakest point, maybe it could be complemented with a big siced hand model.
brilliant idea, but i dont know if a single camera could get all the complex structure of hand posing, as i remember someone from india came with the idea of using the surface of tablets as posing tool for hands, is not a true mocap aproach, only a posing tool. but nowadays even any posing tool is a great advantage.
I like the ideas here and hope this expands. I am a low tech peep, so more interested in the practical use of a model.
A bot model like they have in Adobe FUSE? I wonder if they have them in 3D? I do, however, cringe at the unrealistic chest and hips on the female bots, not only insulting to women, but the disproportionate figure hampers usefulness across other applications…such as life-drawing.
