Crazy rig deformation help!

Testing some rigs I’ve just made, and have encountered a strange problem. This could be a bug, but chime in please if you have any ideas of what’s going on here.

Here are my characters linked/proxified into a test scene and posed (the old lady brought a pose library with her, but the problem happens even without using it.

Anyway, so far so good.


Then when I switch to rendered view, or render the frame I get this:


That’s the figure on the right I’m concerned about, in case you were wondering!

The rigging is basically fine. It works in the original blend file without issue, and fine in the viewport until I render/go to rendered view. What gives?!

Doesn’t seem to happen with any of the other 6 or so characters I’ve checked so far btw. But I haven’t found anything different except that she has a pose library in the file.

I guess the problem appears because you moved the Armature of both characters away from the center (Pivot point of the Armature is away from center, while the Character Pivot point is still centered, which cause a offset). Select everything (A-Key) then reset Scale, Rotation and Location (ALT+S, ALT+R and ALT+G).
Now if you want the characters stand next to each other, you should select one of the Armatures and Go into Pose Mode. Then you can rearrange them, because when you move the Armature in Object mode you will run into the same problem again.
Also check the modifiers of both models. Maybe you have also some some setup problems there? Just disable everything besides the Aramature modifer (Viewport and Render disabled).
If that doesn’t help also disable the Armature modifer and un-parent the armature in the object tab of the model. If it still deforms in the render, it might have to do soemthing with the library.

You are right, I seem to have moved the linked Group object from it’s origin point before posing the proxy rig. I don’t quite understand why this should break the rig in the render, and not in solid or textured mode, but there you go!

I’m sure I’ve moved linked rigs like this before as a shortcut. But for now I’ll just be careful, and all should be OK.
