I am new to blender. I use After effects for different creations, but I want to learn how to create 3d text in blender. I have searched the forum but there are too many pages to go through. Can someone point me to a tutorial to create 3d text in blender please? I have a project that I need to complete-I was using a great program called Serif 3d plus, but lost my key due a hard drive crash.

Add -> Text.
Then in the Editing/text panel, you can change the extrude value to give it thickness.
Slightly different with using the stable 2.49b versus 2.56, but same overall.
