Creating ripped fabric

Not completely sure where this post should be put, mainly because there are problably several ways of doing it. (feel free to move it if it’s considered in the wrong area)

So I’m in the process of making a Chucky doll in 3d, and he has, on his knitted sweater, parts were the fabric has been ripped and then hastily sewn back (see image).
Not sure how to approach this, any tips?

Was thinking of two ways, either model some of the puffed areas and then have a particle system for some strands sticking out, or modelling each strand one by one.

But want to hear what the more cunning people here have to say about it before i start :slight_smile:



an alpha texture might do the trick.
