Creation entire real world for simulator

hello,
1 can i create a tiled landscape with blender?
2 is it needed for creating a ship simulator?
3 what good and cheap terrain tools are there, eg for texture, water (lakes, sea, rivers).
Kind regards,
Rob

it sounds like you are trying to do something like @barrymaritime with his maritime routes simulations. Are you aiming at a global realistic world or a flat map shape for the environment? If you want to make a spherical earth, use @BluePrintRandom 's method above. Otherwise, you can either model the landscape by hand or generate land tiles procedurally.

Thx for the answers: i would more create a flat world and use Armory 3d as engine.

I use upbge

I use nodes to do this

RGB = terrain splat , A = water depth

this way the terrain textures are generated by vertex color splat mapping that can be set during generation, and we use 1 material for all terrain and it does not appear too repetitious

For a height map I am using 3DEM which although no longer supported still seems to work after a dozen years and a search on web should find it for download. using srtm2/hgt satellite data. With 3 DEM you change it to UTM. There are a few sites but needs a search. One is
https://freegeographytools.com/2009/3dem-website-is-gone-but-3dem-still-available-here

To make routes I am using a script from Blender (not sure if still available) and all that needed is the hgt files and the co-ordinates to type in the script box. OpenSreetMap can give the co-ordinates for any section chosen from OSM.
3DEM not really required just needs hgt file and Blender script

If I had the coordinates of the section and srtm2/hgt section I could stick a mesh on my site for a few days for download.
